Large Antique Stoneware Jug

This antique stoneware artifact measures 12.5 inches tall.

The handsome two-tone beehive jug is unmarked but is quite old. I know this because I extricated from it a wadded up rag which had served as its last stopper. It had largely decomposed into soil and this had to take some considerable time. It has now been cleaned and appears to hold about 2 gallons. There’s a small (very minor) fleck of glaze chipped off of the spout and the non-brown bit of the handle (below) was never glazed.

It was purchased at a Cannell Studios movie studio sale and so now could have the provenance of having been used as a prop in a film.
