Edison Opera Phonograph in Mahogany with Music Master Cygnet Horn and Diamond A Reproducer in Pristine Cosmetic and Working Condition

Here is my second Edison Opera, the Rolls Royce of all cylinder phonographs. Offered in oak and mahogany cabinets, here we have the more expensive and ornate mahogany version, also featuring several metal parts made from brushed copper. A hole in the lid accommodates the horn even when the machine is not playing. The horn is a self-supporting cygnet horn, that can be swiveled by 360 degree without any crane. The direct-drive motor has no belt and moves the carriage and mandrel relative to the stationary pickup and horn, avoiding mechanical rumble to be transferred to the reproducer. A 3-spring governor and two flywheel stabilizers largely eliminate wow and flutter. The all gear silent double spring motor plays for about 10 minutes, enough for two records without rewinding. My machine has serial number 3441 out of an estimated total of 4600. Made in 1912 the machine was equipped with the Diamond A reproducer, especially developed for the then new Amberol celluloid cylinders. New gaskets and a brand-new factory diamond stylus were installed and the machine serviced. It runs absolutely silently and plays with lots of volume. I had bought the phonograph from the grandson of the original owner in Holland, who also had about 100 cylinders mostly from the same Dutch distributor, “The World’s Phonograph Company” in Amsterdam (zoom list in last picture). The references below link to a detailed documentation with 60 pictures and a youtube video.
I recommend pickup in Chilliwack, where you will have the opportunity to test it yourself, and see many more restored vintage radios, phonographs and gramophones. Alternatively, delivery to Vancouver and anywhere in between is possible. Please make me an offer and note that as per today US$ 1 ≈ CA$ 1.41 !
