Cool Kitschy Vintage
Dentist Poster
This was used as a movie prop used in the making of the Warner Premier movie “A Christmas Story 2” filmed in Vancouver in 2012. The film is set in the 40’s so the poster design likely dates from that era or earlier. It has, perhaps 2nd World War-time, military characteristics. A corner of it can be seen in the sadistic german dentist’s office in the movie. Framed in wood it measures 30 inches by 22 inches. The poster is an antique or early vintage original. The wooden frame is new. The fact that no information about it can be found online suggests that it’s extremely RARE. Very coincidentally, I remember this poster from when I was a little boy in the 60’s. It hung in the waiting room of a husband-and-wife dentist team named “Drs. Otto”. It’s in Excellent Condition.
An oral hygiene poster the German phrase at the bottom reads: “Doppelte Abwehr gegen die Feinde Ihrer Zahne!”. This translates to “Double defense against the enemies of your teeth!” Behind the animated yellow (mouthwash) bottles holding spears are more animated dark pink bottles holding tooth brushes. The fleeing figures, under the magnifying glass, represent bacteria.
It’s perfect for a discerning dentist or hygienist who wants to own an already historic kitschy poster used in the Vancouver-made sequel to the timeless Christmas film.
