I’m looking for research participants for my PhD study on the experiences of people who do gig work or other work in the platform economy. The purpose of the project is to learn about why people perform these types of work, and their other experiences in this industry. Examples of working in the platform economy include – rideshare driving for Uber/Lyft, Delivery for SkiptheDishes, UberEats, Foodora, Door Dash, in-person manual labour with TaskRabbit or Handy, Crowdwork for Amazon Mechanical Turk, and virtual assistant work for Fivver, Upwork and Freelancer. Other types of work that are facilitated by a platform app can also be considered.
I would like to hear from anyone who is currently working in the platform economy, or has previously worked in the platform economy in the past 5 years. Participation involves ONE audio-recorded interview lasting approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Due to the COVID-19 situation, I can interview you via video chat (Zoom) or telephone.
In appreciation of your time, I will provide you with a $5.00 giftcard to Amazon.
I’m hoping that the findings from this study can help improve our current knowledge about this industry, and the people who rely on these work as sources of income.
If you want to take part or learn more about this study please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Thank you, Lyn
