I am rehoming an adult male lutino cockatiel, no cage. Please read the entire ad before messaging. If the ad is up, he is available – no need to ask me if he’s available. I am not accepting offers or haggling over the adoption fee. If you don’t seem like you read the ad, I will assume you aren’t that serious and delete the message. I am a kind person, not as aggressive as I sound here. I just care a lot about this bird, as he isn’t just an object for sale, and I need him to go to a suitable home 🙂
He was originally housed with a female and my other male, but he impregnated the female, and she didn’t survive being egg-bound. I didn’t realize they were mating until I caught them one time, and it was too late. It’s my fault that I didn’t catch it sooner 🙁 He is now alone with my other male, and they fight and scream at each other all day. I don’t have the space for another cage (small apartment, lots of pets already) so I think it would be best to rehome him. He is a VERY intelligent bird. He loves to sit on your shoulder or finger, but he isn’t affectionate. I think this could honestly change when he isn’t in an environment that encourages him to be hormonal. He sings and whistles. I don’t have his wings clipped, as I never open the window without checking the cage first. He really loves to fly around the home – he is a strong and accurate flyer. However, I would say you 100% must get his wings clipped if you can’t commit to NEVER opening a window if there’s any chance he could get out of his cage. He’d definitely escape.
I’ve listed him for a rehoming fee of less than half of what I paid for him. He doesn’t come with a cage. I’m seeking a home with parrot experience. He is not a pet for children. He is on a pellet-only diet, which took me a long time to change from his original pet-store seed addiction. I want someone who is willing to pay more for food (I buy Tropican $16 would last a month or so for one bird). The cage he will be homed in needs to have bars that are spaced 1/2″ or less, or he could get his head stuck. He needs a decent amount of space. He must be the only bird in the cage, as I said he will get hormonal and either fight a male or impregnate a female. He has the potential to be an amazing companion bird! He currently has a little bald spot on his head from the female over-grooming him before, but that will likely grow back. He loves being outside of his cage, he is very brave and outgoing, hilarious, and has a big personality.
I have a video of him giving my boyfriend a little kiss on the cheek, being VERY cute. I can’t attach it here so let me know if you’d like to see by email.
As this is a strange time, and I don’t want anyone in my home with the pandemic, we can make special arrangements if you are very serious and basically ready to adopt. I’d be willing to bring him to your front entrance in a box. Have you bring him inside to let him out in your home, and see how he is. I can wait outside for 30 mins or so. Then, if you like him, you can email transfer me the adoption fee. If you don’t like him, you’d have to get him securely back in the box, and put it back on your doorstep. If you have a better way than this, I’m all ears. 🙂
